Black-Owned Bookstore Tour

In May 2021, an idea came to me to go on a bookstore tour of different states. Specifically, I wanted to visit independent, Black-owned bookstores (I even tweeted about it!). In July of that year, I started the tour in Oakland, CA – check out my post on Marcus Books to see why that was so special. Each stop has given me a little bit of history, a little bit of new literature, and a lot of joy. If you are a reader, you know that independent bookstores face challenges to stay open.
